A social enterprise is a business that operates with a double-bottom line; its results are measured both in terms of financial returns and in the achievement of societal objectives. SCP has for many years invested in and maintained a portfolio of social enterprises across Canada.
SCP is very proud of our past investments in this portfolio, and we will still consider investing in high-growth potential social enterprises. Where financing is provided to a new client, the maximum amount loaned would be $300,000 but the actual amount would vary depending upon the needs of the business and the number of employees that will be hired through community programs that help those facing employment barriers.
Typically, these loans would be amortized five years with monthly interest plus principal payments. Interest rates are very competitive and tied directly to the number of social hires employed. All loans are conditional upon and are the provision of a personal guarantee, good credit history and an agreement to provide ongoing monthly financial and social hiring reports to SCP.
