Social Capital Partners facilitates the creation of customized financing packages for social enterprises and for-profit companies that incorporate a social employment model into their business.
Since its inception, Social Capital Partners has employed mission based investing principles to arrange growth capital for social enterprises and other small and medium businesses that incorporate a social mission into their business and employment models.
We have a particular focus on partnering with corporate franchisors to arrange unencumbered capital for new franchise owners or those owners looking to refinance.
Looking to be able to create a larger scale impact, we began facilitating investment in franchises in 2006. The franchise model reduced much of the inherent risk associated with start-up or early stage businesses and, by working with the corporate franchiser, allowed SCP to incorporate its social hiring objectives into businesses with multiple locations and staffing opportunities.
Investment Requirements
Social Capital Partners facilitates the creation of customized financing packages to social enterprises and to businesses that incorporate a social hiring mission into their business and HR models. Typically, a business we invest in must not only meet industry standard credit and financial solvency standards, they must also meet the SCP's specific social and business criteria.

Types of Financing
- Franchise: SCP looks to work with franchisors that have a demonstrated track record of community involvement who want a reliable source of financing for their franchisees.
- Growth Capital: Currently, SCP is not actively looking for small or medium size businesses to invest in. Notwithstanding this, we have from time-to-time considered facilitating financing where the social return on investment was exceptionally compelling.
- Social Enterprise: SCP has for many years invested in and maintained a portfolio of social enterprises across Canada.

Socially-Adjusted Interest Rate
At Social Capital Partners, we are willing to take a lower economic return for a higher social return. That's why we tie our interest rates to the number of social hires a company makes.
